Ohio, the offset misunderstandings aside, I'd like to know what you did fine out with this, 2 years old or not. There are a variety of sources of information that state the various Ford centerline offsets while at the same time there are vehicles that say, "not so fast." There are apparently a lot of exceptions or a lot of bad info available. Pinion offset is one that is all over the place and often only because there isn't a consistent definition about what pinion offset is. Officially Ford uses Dana's definitions but it unofficially ends there. Ford's official driveline offset to chassis centerline is 9\16". There's an old joke about accountants where 2+2=5 and a room full of accountants are rolling on the floor laughing. Pretty much defines "official" offsets.

Anyway, if you remember what you found out I'd like to add the info to the list of exceptions.

I didn't have any trouble installing the 24" long 5" x 11" center/offset muffler with just a spare piece of pipe (about 12" long) to take up the space left by pulling out the original behemoth, so the 2.875" offset is fine. That said, there's enough play in the rest of the system that the 2" offset of the 5" x 8" muffler would work as well. I think you'd only run into issues if you tried to use an offset/offset one.

Oh, and the "jog" remained in play when I installed the 24.
