Default Odometer info

I'm thinking of getting a aftermarket instrument cluster for my 99 5.4l. My question is, where is the info stored for the mileage? Is it stored in the panel, or in the ECM, and if it's stored in the cluster itself, how do I transfer that info over to the new cluster? Thanks Fourm!

Well I have had problems before and when you Change your gauge cluster from my knowledge it requires you to take it to the dealer ship and have them flash it to the truck. Sounds dumb but it's the problems I ran into to. something about the cluster is one of the parts the require the key code as the gem module and the Anti theft module and the PCM. So if you change the cluster you will prolly get a no start problem.

Everything is stored in the ECM, and yes, i you'll have to get it reflashed at the dealership. Where did you find an aftermarket cluster man? Everyone around here just seems to put LEDs in the face...

Man, some of those are real nice, i like this one:

But if its just the faceplate i wouldn't think you're going to have to reflash the ECM, looks like you just have to make sure the needles are on correctly!

On closer inspection, I think your right, but some of those look pretty sweet!
