Default OBDII Code

So whenever I check to see if my truck is throwing any codes I get the same stupid P100 on board diagnostics system not ready. I was told that all I have to do is drive around for a while and it will reset itself and check for codes, but it does this to me all the time whenever I check the codes. Anybody know what is going on? I am worried my truck might be throwing codes but I cant read them because the system is not ready.

I am using an edge evo to check the codes btw.

There is a specific drive cycle.

Are you completing all the steps?

Another possibility is the Edge is causing the code. If you complete the drive cycle and the code is still there, I would call Edge.

You need to do all that to clear the p1000 code.

I think that sounds way to thorough. I just take my truck for a steady drive for a few mins, stop turn it off, wait, and then take another steady drive.

What if I just clear the codes...then drive like I usually would for few weeks. And then pull the codes? shouldnt that work? Am I missing something here because thats what I have been doing and its giving me the P1000 code.

Other than the p1000 code, what codes have you gotten?

Ok I turned my edge back to stock yesterday and ever since its running this code. Can I still check my other codes or is this keeping me from being able to read them?
