Default Normal? Or no?

My 2003 Supercrew 5.4 with 249,350 miles on it will not shift down sometimes when I floor it is this normal? ( plugs and coils changed about 1,000 miles ago all motorcraft. Fuel filter about 5,000 miles ago ) like when I have to floor it sometimes it doesn't shift down it speeds up fine and the RPMS climb but it doesn't downshift. I've looked at the cats they don't glow but they pop quite a bit after shutdown after it has been driven. Normal or not?

Try to tap the gas pedal twice and floor it on the second tap.

I'll try that but 99% of the time when I floor it I have to not get hit because people are dicks.

Child Please!

Some pro football player was quoted as saying that a few years ago..

I've been driving my new to me truck now for 3 weeks or so. Today I hit 2600 rpm's. Not because I had to, but because I was in the mood to go a little quicker. You youngsters talk about flooring it, like you have to. Really? Drive sensibly and you'll be fine at 1700 rpm's and 70mph. When you get older you'll realize who the "dicks" are.

ding ding ding was planning on doing that!!! But you know... One Brother " knows " more then the other.. The transmission fluid looks fresh. Bright red and looks clean. But it could be junk since it had a oil filter I have never heard of. So crap fluid could be in the transmission. Along with a cheap filter.

It's not just us. My uncle still does that crap and he is 54! I'm not saying us kid's aren't stupid by nature but you have to take a look at who is raising us. If you have a parent that does burnouts and races other people on the road, what are you growing up knowing? Sure everyone has the power to make their own decisions but when you have an authority figure (your parents) engaging in less than smart activities, what are you more apt to do? I just read a headline today that said "Children whose parents smoked are twice as likely to begin smoking between ages 13 and 21 as offspring of nonsmokers". This was not by choice, it was for my English class haha, but the point remains that kids generally follow in their parents footsteps. Obviously there are more than what kind of parenting you had growing up going into why you do stupid things, but you have to look at everything. I'm not trying to say you are wrong, just bringing up another point of view.

Apparently you've never lived in a town full of retired yankees where your only choices are slam on the gas or brake. I've had a car go in the median, speed up and cut off 3 vehicles, think that's bad? The car behind that idiot did the same thing cutting off the same 3 cars plus the original idiot. Ended up having to lock down the brakes and smoking tires to avoid it.
