Default New muffler

So in the near future I've considered a better sound, or any sound at all outta my truck. Currently, I have a regular, quiet as crap oem style muffler.

I just want a little medium grumble / growl to my 01 5.4 super crew. I'm thinking about going flowmaster 2.5 in and 2.5 out. Dont care if its dual out, unless there is a reason?

Any advice on which model? I'm thinking 40 series or super 44.

Again, I know it's just sound. No performance coming out of it. OEM cats still on the truck, not looking to change any of that or introduce any issues.

I just want some sound but not over whelming...
thoughts?

I wouldn't use anything Flowmaster except for their Lamineer series mufflers, since they're a straight through design. The mufflers your referring to are chambered.

Why not chambered, I dont know much about exhaust systems?

What would you suggest to use? If not the lamineer series

Just trying to get a few options

Jbrew, are the chamber designs more restrictive?

I just want a good sound, nothing too loud, Minimal drone sound. That being said, other mufflers I'm open to, doesn't have to be flowmaster. That was just initial research.

jbrew, what about magnaflow, what straight through do you suggest? 18 inch in length?

With a little research I now understand, lol

Here ya go Maple... this video is promoting their Laminar style HP2. Naturally, they aren't going to compare it to their own chambered muffler.

Borla mufflers (#1 IMO), Fmasters Laminar (spelled that wrong earlier lol) and of course Magnaflow. Pretty much ran them all. Well, I've run other Flowmasters in the past except for Laminar series. Those are what I suggest anyway.

Yes, exhaust gases and moisture build up remain in the pipes. Cutting into your usable power....takes more effort to clear the system/pipes with that kind of restriction.

Alrighty, thanks fellas. I'm thinking 18 inch straight through. I'll do a little more looking around. Appreciate the input.
