Default new guy need help...

I want to start off by saying all my mechanical knowledge is with older non efi mod motors. With that being said i have a 1997 f150 4.6l that is dead, my question is can i replace it with a 1990 5.0l HO motor from a 1990 mustang. I have access to a complete running car with motor, tranny, harness etc. Every this is free so it makes it appealing. But is it possible? Will tranny in f150 work(stang tranny is a tremec 5speed)? Can i use short block from 5.0l, etc....What are the pitfalls.

Any info is welcome to help point me in the right direction...

I don't see why not. The biggest obstacle I would think is if you have to have the emissions tested. Some states require that only the motor specified by the VIN (type) can be installed or automatic fail you.

Hope this helps, good luck!
