Default New guy here, question for you....

Hey guys, I just recently inherited an 03 King Ranch Lariot from my G-dad! Next to excellent condition only 70k on the odometer and garage kept! Beauty of a truck and came from a man that only drove Fords!

My question would be this...

I was looking under the truck and noticed at the muffler a hole has rusted through (first question was how? truck was garage kept and never driving in the winter months) anyhow, I need to replace the exhaust. I want to change it to one that the exhaust comes out at the tire. I believe I've seen a similar exhaust set up on the Lightnings straight from Ford. Correct me if I'm wrong. Either way, where and who do you reccomend my buying the exhaust from?

Look forward to the forum and learning a lot about this truck!

I've got a flowmaster on mine that comes out before the rear wheel well. My truck has the 4.2L 6 in it but it purrs like an 8 with that exhaust. I suggest looking into flowmaster.

I like Flowmaster as well, (nice and loud, with a deep rumble). However if your looking at getting the 40 series, the one I would suggest, I would look into the Thrush Welded, it is basically the same exact thing as the Flowmaster but for about 1/3 of the price.

Just to toss this out there. Your truck is a KING RANCH, not a Lariat. King Ranch is better quality leather than the Lariat leather option.

But it all depends on what sound your wanting when replacing your muffler. A exhaust or muffler shop can do up a custom exhaust to exit before the rear tire like the Lightnings if that is what your wanting.

Flowmaster 40 has a good sound.

I'll probably be going with a Cherry Bomb Extreme muffler here pretty soon. Loud sound.

Quick question for you..where exactly is this hole? Is it on the backside of the muffler at the bottom? get a close look at the hole. Is it a rust hole? or is it a drain for moisture condensation which occurs when it sits?

I double checked and no its not a drain hole of any sort, its def. a rust hole.

Thanks for all the reccomendations for different companies and set ups. i am not looking for anything crazy loud, just something that lets me hear this 5.4.

Also, the one guy who replied said its a King Ranch and not a lariat, but on the truck it says KING RANCH Lariat on both fendors?

It does? That's odd... I've never heard of that before.. Because Lariat and King Ranch and different options. I have the Lariat leather option on my truck. And King Ranch is higher quality.. very interesting.
