Default New Guy here

Well first off would like to say, Hello and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. im not new to fords, but this is my first f150. it's '04 Heritage V6 5spd tht i picked up for 5k w/ 120k on the tach. Im a service tech by trade at a local shop in Phoenix, and i love it. i'm getting a lot better at my diag skills, and working my way up the chain. i have worked on a lot of ford, chevy, dodge trucks at the shop. and i have tackled 1 intake manifold on a 4.2 and a couple oil filter adaptor gaskets on the V8's are commen for coolant leaks. But my truck has an exhaust leak on the passanger side exhaust manifold, but thts not new. i just use the truck to get me from A to B. But me and the guys were thinking of just replacing the whole exhaust from the manifolds back with some LT's, high flow cats, and 24" glasspaks. still keeping it single exhaust. I know V6's sound like crap at high rpm, but i dont get on it unless i'm passing on the freeway. so any thoughts on the subject?

If possible I would definitely change it to a dual exhaust for better sound, horsepower, and looks. Be careful how loud you go. I have had several friends that went too loud and couldn't stand the noise inside the truck. They went to different exhausts so the money was wasted on the original loud ones. Try not to make that mistake too as it will cost you.

In all honesty my 02 V6 was almost too loud with a single flowmaster dumper. I put the stock tail pipe back on and it helped some. My 97 4.6 has dual flows and its not too loud with tail pipes. Im not sure why my V6 was so loud, it could have been that it was a 5 spd too, and I was reving it higher then my 4.6 auto does.

The thought of the glasspacks on the truck doesn't sit well with me. Everything else sounds fine, but in my opinion a better choice in muffler is needed.
Even at lower speeds, that think is gonna drone to the point of making you crazy after a while.
But, like I said, that's my opinion buddy.

Most all heritages I have seen are extend cabs. Looks like a clean truck. It might actually look bad *** to color match the bumpers, and buy XLT mirrors.

The below exact Description is taken from the Ford 2003 F-150 Showroom Brochure.

"On the outside, it's a respectful nod to all the F-Series trucks that have gotten the job done, decade after decade. The look is classic, with its two tone paint, special wheels and commemorative badging (a). On the inside, the classic two-tone continues with unique contoured seat trim (b) in a choice of three accent fabrics color keyed to the exterior. It took 100 years to make this F-150 Heritage Edition, but we think you'll agree it was worth the wait."

"2003 Heritage Edition F-150 Specifics - Available on 139" WB XLT SuperCab Styleside only. Includes front black 40/60 split bench with accent color inserts (captain's chairs are optional), chrome grille surround with black honeycomb grille insert, chrome tubular cab steps, unique black "F150" front floor mats with rear floor mat, 17" 5-spoke aluminum wheels (4), unique two-tone paint treatment and tape stripe, unique badging, black Ford bedliner, clear lens headlamps, park lamps and fog lamps, and accent colored lower bumper valance."

And it is still not an '04.
