Need new GEM.
I have a 97 XLT 4.6L 4WD and all kinds of crazy electrical issues just popped up one day last week. I need a remanufactured GEM and was hoping someone knows the part number required for my vehicle. Anybody happen to keep that info handy? Seems there are several part numbers out there for 97 F150s and some of these sites are not very good at identifying if the particular GEM they have is a fit for my vehicle.

ESOF 4wd? Power equipment group?
I am not sure what either of those are. What would my truck have that would tell me if I have either. It was a fleet vehicle at one time so everything seems pretty standard.

Before you do anything at all, you really need to get that leak fixed.
You can remove the GEM and submerge it in a bucket of rice for 24 to 48 hours to draw out all of the moisture. Rice is a lot cheaper than a new GEM.
I've done it, and a few others have done it on here as well. It works really well.... just sucks being without a truck for a couple days.
By the way, ESOF = Electronic Shift On the Fly - so is it a manual shift or a switch on the dash? The power equipment package means what options does it have? Power locks, power windows, A/C, etc?
