Question Need k&n help

good evening everyone

i was in canadian tire today i thought i would give the K&N drop in filter a try cause i thought it would be cheep (around same price as a fram) but i looked at the price tag and HOLY it was 70 dollars i was shocked and since i didn't buy it yet i was wondering if any one had tried one if they make any difference at all in HP OR MPG or would it be a waste

i would go the full thing but i can't afford it

please let me know if this would be a investment that pays off or a waste or not worth it

my truck is a 2000 ford f150 5.4L 7700

Thanks

you will probably get a better throttle response, maybe better mpg but wouldnt count on it and maybe a little more hp.

I used to run a drop-in and couldn't notice anything different about my truck. I recommend saving your money and buying a cold air intake instead of a drop-in filter.

I had one in my truck, didn't really notice a difference. It's going to be pretty tough to feel a 5-6 hp increase. I installed a Green CAI system and can definitely notice a difference from that. Keep your money and save it for the full system.

i had a drop in filter and i didn't notice much of a difference so i got the whole cai but if you want to look at it another way you might not feel the difference but in the long run it might save you money being that you won't have to buy another air filter as the drop in filter can be cleaned and used for the life of your truck. but if you are willing to go the extra mile i would say buy the cold air intake

pretty much what evryone else has said, i have the fipk k n air intake kit on my 04 lincoln ls v8 and i absolutely love it. basically here are my opinions, it is alitte bit expesnive but getting the re oil kit and being able to re use it is a nice thing, just make sure you clean your maf sensor out after you re oil it each time because a lot of times it can get a tad bit of xtra oil in it. you will more than likely have a gain of a few horses but not enuf to really make a big difference but the seat of the pants and sound will be def be noticeable. throttle response might pick up a tad and your mpg might raise a tad. but usually what is the case is your on it more often wanting to hear the nice sound and you end up not even getting any better mpg lol or atleast in my case. but i will def spend the money for one on every single vehicle i will ever own if avaliable. so save your money, buy the full kit and I think you will be happy with your purchase. Do the "Gotts mod" to your stock intake and put the K&N drop in filter in it. Should feel a increase in throttle response and possible MPG gain.. just gotta open er' up to breathe!!

CAI is a waste IMO. $250 for a metal intake tube.. I have 1, and I don't think it was worth it.
