Seems like my truck has no first gear, starts off at second. I try to put it in 1st and nothing happens. Also there is some slipping at 2000-3000 rpm. Any thoughts on whats going on.

Depending on your budget, and truck condition, I would go with jasper. 3 year, 100k mile warranty.

Well it's like doing drum brakes for the first time take lots of pictures and go slow plan on the truck being down for a week label everything and ... PICTURES,PICTURES,PICTURES and of course a buddy or relative or someone who knows a little bit about a little bit and your off to the races go buy a tranny rebuild kit for around 600-1000 again depending on where you go and what type of tranny you have and go to town worst case scenario you mess it up to the point of no return and you have to bring it to the dealership If you can label and take pictures and got a decent set of tools your good in my book I did my first tranny rebuild in 01 and it took me 8 days and a lot of patience but now there not that bad

Big thing is patience and don't be afraid of it I'd say I for it because this generation of people crack me up when you see A grown man or kid that can't change there own flat tire

Open the driver door, and on the right side towards the rocket panel will be a sticker. On that sticker there will be a bunch of different stuff including a transmission code. Post up the code then we can tell you what you have.
