Mud sunk
Hey I sunk my truck mudding around this time last year. I got it fixed where it runs again but there a loud noise coming from the engine. I have no clue what it is but I want to know. Does anybody have any ideas? Or know of anything I can try. The noise is all the time. It's not just every now and then.
Thanks
Thanks
What kind of noise? Is it like a clack clack clack noise like valves slapping? You probably threw a rod and it's time for a new motor I would say if it's making a noise all the time and sounds internal but you need to throw out more info
Water is not good for engine internals just an FYI
:thumbs up:

Yeah lol the guy that pulled me out was saying the same thing. It's not a clack clack it's more like a ahhhhhh idk how to describe it. Some people have told me it may just be a miss fire but idk. It kind of sounds like a diesel engine if that's any help
Sounds like you sucked up some muddy water And more than likely bent a rod
You need to have someone in your area.. A certified mechanic check out the noise
I have seen these trucks just have a lot of slack in the timing chains causing a slapping noise like it has no oil and once you pull it apart slap some new chains in your still in business so if you know. Of anyone that is or has worked for ford and can decipher between a timing chain noise and a bent rod go to them
My bet is Your gonna need an engine if you were "SUNK" like you say but if the water level wasn't that high an you didn't keep it running when you got stuck I would rip it apart and do a rebuild especially if it has sentimental value to you

I sunk my truck once.. Went through a puddle / swamp a couple too many times where the water went over the hood. Still made it through but soon after I noticed the truck was pulling 3000 rpm with no throttle. I shut it off and it wouldn't start until the next day with tps and maf etc unplugged. Limped home and changed oil. It always had a lot of white stuff on the oil cap but ran for a year more but then oil pressure took a nose dive and it was new engine time.
Check your oil pressure at hot idle with a mechanical gauge and that will tell you if your engine is on its way out. Especially if the noises you are hearing happen when warm or hot at low rpm. Say a red light
