Default Will this increase air intake?

Someone told me removing the boot ( a 4" hard rubber tube) between the air filter housing and fender will increase air intake and increase power. He said the air is restricted coming from inside the fender. Any of ya'll done this mod and noticed any difference?

Gotts Mod. Replace that small tube with a bigger tube for increased air flow

You will notice a small difference with or with out it. I would do the Gotts mod like suggested. The engine will only pull in as much air as it needs and the stock setup does a fine job at supplying enough air.
