So I will start by saying that the bowl looking thing everyone is talking about is the fuel pressure regulator that is attached to fuel rail, the post 1997 5.4 it's part of the fuel rail...pre 97 5.4 is a detachable version that is preferred over the other because you can install an aftermarket FPR on higher performance vehicles. If this is leaking....you would see other problems as well.

The EGR is located roughly in the same area....there is a large tube comming off of it that runs to the drivers side header. I borrowed this pic....you can see the rusted looking part right about top middle of the pic

As far as the COP and the plug....not sure you have a plug issue (post a pic of the removed one so we can get an idea of whats going on).

NOW!!! HOSING DOWN THE ENGINE BAY SHOULD BE DONE WITH EXTREME CAUTION!!!!!!
These thing's do not like water in the connections AT ALL.

You replace the COP so I am assuming it came with a new boot and spring (what type COP did you buy).

I suggest that you pull that COP and clean out all that grease at the plug and the connector...something tells me this will be a must for you. After you get it all cleaned (use a good electrical cleaner in spray can) apply the di-electric grease ONLY to the rubber.....do not put it on the connector pins at all. Some decent reading in this link:
http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-dielectric-grease.htm

While your spraying your electrical connectors, take the connector off the injector and clean that as well....let them dry off before hooking them back up.

So for about 5 bucks you can rule out a couple things.....I won't go into those other things right now. Good luck!!

Thanks so much. I will do all of this when I get back in town. I hope this solves the problem! So it is not a good idea to put dielectric grease on the connector? And I just bought some of the coils on eBay for like $120. I know the more expensive ones would do better but I can't afford it right now. And the coils did come with new boots and springs.

I always use di electric grease on my connections. I have never heard of a problem from using this grease.

I get a miss seems like about every 3 months. Somehow the 2nd spark plug from the back on the passenger side works itself loose. Gonna try some Teflon tape next time it happens!

I have seen many situations where grease, oil, and dirt get down in that spark plug socket and the plugs get loose. The only way I have successfully fixed this problem is to take out the plug, clean out the socket with a wire brush and a solvent like WD 40. After it is all clean, put the plug back in and torque it down to the recommended torque with a torque wrench.

Also, if the treads are worn and it continues to come loose, use a little high temp tread locker on the plug.

I will def try that. Last time I had to tighten it, the spark got tight after like a turn and a half!? I took it out and put it back in a couple times, thinkin maybe I cross-threaded it but it did the same thing. I wasn't sure if it was okay to clean and spray stuff down in there.

I forgot to mention, a shotgun cleaning brush for your standard 12 ga works well for cleaning the plug socket

Ya I'm going to try to pull it apart again tomorrow and see if I can find anything. I'm going to check all the connectors and clean the plug threads out and make sure it's tight. I will post a pic of my plug. And will you all tell me if I am maybe fowling plugs?
