Default mirror tint

I have a 97 and its got that ugly mirror tint on it, so i know i have to replace the window to get rid of the tint. however could i tint the outside of the window to temporarliy hide the mirror finish? if you have done this post pictures, and how would weather affect this?

Rent a portable steamer, it will take the tint off in no time.

the mirror tint on my back windows are factory, it's not a removable tint, it's part of the window. theres tint that was put on behind it but it is not reflective tint that was applied. i just wanna know if i could apply tint too outside to cover it up until i get money and how the weather would affect it

So your post is a little confusing.. There is factory tint on the windows yes, but if there was aftermarket put on it would be over the factory glass not behind it.. either way, use soapy water and soak the window, then remove the tint with a razor blade and peel off as much as you can to make it come off easier. depending on how long the tint has been on there, it make take a while to come off..

also, you never want to apply tint to the outside of a window and any pics would help as I am still confused on what your talking about..

I have never heard of mirror tint from the factory... Sounds like a VatoZone upgrade...

Take a razor blade and try a corner, then go to town if it starts peeling

mirror tint-5.jpg
If you can tell the window is like a chome tint on it, this is a factory tint on 97 and 98 trucks, i don't think it was on all but it was on some. this tint is not removable it is part of the glass. there is tint on the inside of the truck that the previous owner had applied however removing this tint will not rid the window of this ugly mirror finish.

I have the same problem man...I dont think they get what you're talking about. I dont think tinting the outside of the glass will last long but its worth a shot just to cover that mirror finish. Although I wonder if the mirror will still show through unless you went 5% or something.

You would want the truck to sit for a couple days in a garage for the tint to stick well to the outside without the wind or rain starting to peel it off. Even after that its probably not going to stay on very well.
