Here goes schematic

 

I realize I am digging up an old thread, but did you guys ever solve this issue on you trucks? I am having the same problem on my 01 screw, everything else works but the map lights.

 

I have it where my dome light works when door is open and back two reading lights, map lights in front don't work at all and have good bulbs. None work when doors are closed except by dome light **** on dash than still only dome back lights. All other lights on truck work properly.

 

SOLVED!!! at least for my 1999 F150 xlt.

Relay #2.

Took out Relay #1 and Relay #2.
Put Relay #1 in Relay #2 slot. When i did map lights came on.
Then put Relay #1 and #2 back in original positions to drive to parts store to buy new Relay. When i did map lights still worked!!!
Must've just needed to re-seat Relay #2.

Glad you figured yours out, I tried to replace both relay one and two to no avail. Also checked out fuse number 14. Did look down by kick panel on passenger side and found some water in the sill. No I'm going to have to figure out why that is and trace the wire from there to dome assembly to figure out issue if there is not a issue where it plugs in under that area.

 

I only have one relay switch in passenger compartment of my 2003 Ford F150 XL 2WD, Regular Cab automatic transmission
Relay switch 1&2 in passenger compartment or engine compartment.?
