Manual
Ok crazy idea. Today I thought my Trans slipped a little which I pretty sure the wheels just spun a little more than I'm used to. Anyhow, ideas raced through my head and I wondered- 2wd lowered 5.4L MANUAL trans. I'm pretty sure they don't come with one right?
So here we go- what do I need? Obviously all the manual stuff from a 4.6 but what trans? I assume the bellhousing would be different?
Gimme some help guys!!

Yea I drove a long box scab 4x4 and it just shifted weird. Plus I assume the trans wouldn't handle a 5.4 and I would have to find a 2wd manual trans.
A t56 is 6spd right? How about a tko?

Look up SVT-banshee over on lightningrodder.com the m5 would ok at best behind a stock 5.4 but a magnum t-56 would be the best choice.
As far as the slave issue it's really not the problem, it getting the speed sensor to work. The slave issue is fixed by using a t-56 from a viper or the gt500's which are also hydraulic cluches.
The best part about the magnum t-56 from d&d is that most of the issues are fixed but its 2800 without the sfi bellhousing or a shifter. You will also need a 5-speed donor truck for the pedals, electronics, clutch master cylinder, lines, driveshaft, crossmember, clutch, and steering colum. Then you will need a custom tune to make the stock computer think that the stock automatic is still there just in neutral without a revlimiter.
It's not cheap but its do-able.

^^^^ what he said, the best way to do it correctly... But it can be done much cheaper. It's just what do you care or plan to live without, or how much power you're going to throw at it, or the amount of weight it's going to push.
Ok, this is some great info- what's a ZF? My budget will be whatever is in the junkyard. Maybe if I have to buy a few pieces new but as always this is on a tight budget.
Why a new column? I would use the shroud from the manual truck. I guess I'm a little fuzzy on the ecm stuff- all there would be is a speed sensor right? I could yank the tcm and loop the can line back to the ecm if it even has one- or do we have a pcm instead?
Has anyone here done this swap? I read in other forums this has been done, even one 01 fx4 that claims to be factory...
