It's on a plate on the dash that you can see from drivers side bottom of the windshield. It should also be on your door jabs sticker if it's still there. And it's on your registration and insurance.

Ahh, I see now, it reads both ways haha, I just didn't read it the way you meant it. The only way I know of to get the key code from the VIN is to take a proof of ownership to a Ford dealer and they can look it up for you. Just take the title and your drivers license and they'll cut you a set off the VIN. You just need that stuff to prove it's yours and you're not just making keys to some other guys VIN.

Its to bad that you need proof to get a new set. If I ever lost my keys I don't think that I would have to bring proof of ownership considering that I boght my truck from my local small town delership and they allso know who I am and have the truck on file.

Not sure if this applies, but I know I needed new keys for mine a little while back. I called Ford and they told me they didn't have the codes required for the 1998 F150s anymore. For some reason they said they only had to keep them for 10 years. They said I could bring it in, but it would take 2 or 3 days to do the job. I took my original key to a regular key maker in town and was out in 10 minutes with new keys and no problems.

Doesn't your truck have the PATS on it? If so, just cutting the keys, won't do you a bit of good. It will turn the ignition, but it won't give the computer the correct signal, so you'll get nothing. No starter engagement at all. I had to have this done at a locksmith to have the second key cut also. I just had to have keys cut and coded for the 03 KR I got last week.

Shacklett, that's garbage. We cut a key for a 84 mustang a few years back when a guy at work lost his keys. Unless something changed in the last few years but I seriously doubt it. If you can't get your key code by your VIN you're going to have to re-key your lock cylinders which run about $50 each plus labor unless you do it yourself. But I bet you can get the key code.
