Yea I understand that. I will be out of the army in 20months and then I will be driving whatever I end up with daily.

First, thanks or your service.

Second, wait 20 months and then get what you want once your out. Keep the truck you have now.
Or since you have 2 vehicles (and if it is just you) sell one of them. You don't need 2 vehicles for only one driver.

It is myself and the wife. We actually went the last 20-26 months with just one vehicle since I was in training and deployed 19 of the last 26 months lol. I only bought the truck because she wants to start working again in Jan. and we will need 2 vehicles since we have the two kids to think about also. Still up in the air of what to do for sure. I really do like the KR but I feel that I may just be getting ahead of myself, I may just pass on this one and if another really nice one falls in front of me I'll take it... Not sure yet though going to test drive it tomorrow and the wife is wanting to go and look at it also with the kids. So maybe with her backing me up I won't doing anything rash.

I would just keep what you have, you know what the issues are, you have started making it yours. You don't need to get any deeper in debt right now.
Finish your tour, get a job once your out then look at a newer vehicle.

Ask yourself will the new truck do anything better or give me anything worth the extra $2000 debt (on top of what you already have) that your old truck does. Is there anything lacking in the new truck that your old one does not do or have that is worth $2000?

Sure I like my King Ranch, but it is not anything I would go into debt for at all. I wanted a Supercrew, the one I got just happened to be a KR.

The new truck is 4X4. Also the KR hasn't had the odometer messed with as the dealer gave me a clean carfax on it with only 2 previous owners. My truck I didn't know till a dealer ran a carfax on it that it had over 200k miles back in 2014, the odometer was switched out a few months back before I bought it apparently for one with lower miles to get a bigger premium for it.

But as I said I am still thinking on it also. My 4.6L isn't as peppy as I wish it was.. since my dad has the 4.6L in his scab 99 lariat and it seems so much more full of life than mine does when this one even with the odometer discrepancy I'm sure my dads still has more miles since he just hit 350k miles...

I am also hoping that if I do decide to get this KR that I keep it for a very very long time. I do like the newer body style trucks but I don't really want to pay for that price tag. With the truck I have I can pay it off in a decently fast fashion. With the KR I could still pay it off fast it would only take an extra 4-6months. If my wife does get the job she hopes for in Jan of 2017 I will be able to pay it off even faster because we already talked about all extra income we get will be split 50/50 for savings and the Truck payment.

Once the truck is paid off the 50% that was going extra on top of its normal payment will then be switched to our avenger. We worked the math and with the KR+ Avenger we can have both paid for in full by Sept. of 2018 (A month before I get out of the army) So I will not only have the truck paid for but also my wifes car. If I keep what I have now we would only be able to pay off the car maybe 2-5 months earlier. So really it's not a huge debt BUT it is still one we have to think about..

Reason why tomorrow when I go to look at the truck I am going with the midset of walking away, so if it doesn't just blow me away with its condition and being mechanically sound I will walk away.

Also Blu I read through your entire "rebirth" thread. Very interesting and I am glad you brought her back to life . Always interesting to see a project unfold.
