Default Longevity upgrades?

What kind of upgrades could I get on my truck to make it more reliable/last longer? I'm looking for a list of upgrades/prices (Do it myself prices and professional installation prices) I have a 1997 Ford F250LD (F150 7700) w/ a 4.6L Triton (2WD)

Thanks.

My advise is unless stock bothers you just leave it alone. Keep your service kept up and on time such as changing the oil radiator anti-freeze once a year is how i do the anti-freeze to keep the system flushed out using a aftermarket flush kit. I've heard both ways about the trans fluid, leave it alone or change it, Either way DO NOT let anyone do a power flush on it ! If you must change the fluid just change it. Keep a good check on your Fuel lines and keep the fuel filters changed out on time. Keep every thing clean to prevent rusting and corrosion. Keep all your under hood areas clean and it dont hurt to wipe down all those vacuum hoses and plastic tubes under the hood down with a good coat of armoral to keep them from dry rotting. Just go the extra mile with your maintenance routine and it should last you a good long time.

just a comment on the tranny coolers. I had one on my old truck (chevy 1500 not by choice) and when I had to get a new transmission (my grandpa tore the transmission up hauling trailers) they didnt connect the hose to the cooler up and crimp it properly which caused it to go out in about a month when the hose just flat out came off. the point being that its just one more thing that can go wrong.

Trans coolers are a good thing to invest if you haul alot of trailers.

I had my transmission rebuilt in my 2000 f150 4x4 late 2010 from a good trans shop with a 1 year warranty and it ran around 1500. Has shifted great ever since. Knock on wood
