Your right, if HIDs are installed in a housing made for them your ok. But the Lightning lights are not. That's the issue.

. Yeah but as previously stated these hid's usually are aftermarket and not in hid housings (just that adapter and module)

Those are the specific pair of lightning headlights I have, not tinted or anything. Also, the inspector that failed my truck specifically mentioned the reason it failed was because of the orange reflector strips. A lot of people around where I live have HIDs and he passes them.

Have him specify which part of the code he failed it for. I just looked through it and don't see anything regarding front reflectors except they must be amber and visible from the front while being at a height between 24 and 60 inches

Funny he as no issue with an obvious illegal part (PnP HID) but has an issue with a reflector.

There's absolutely no reason those should fail then. That is a factory style light that was DOT approved for the lightning trucks.

Do those headlight assemblies have the amber marker/turn signal bulbs that are separate for the front and side view? That is a common problem with some aftermarket stuff. Marker must be visible front and side. Turn must be seen from front, it can't flash on the side.

Go back in and have him print the page from the state inspection manual where it doesn't meet criteria. In my state stations can get into trouble for failing something that should pass, I'm sure there is an oversight agency you can go to if you think this is the case.

I figured this was BS. These assemblies function exactly like stock headlamps. When I get back stateside, our inspector is going to have a new friend.

that's it right there, that's all there is about the amber reflectors on the front of your truck. I used to do inspections here in Texas and if your truck complies with the above quote you're 100% legal..... When it comes to the light housings and reflectors.
