depends on the reason for lifting the vehicle. i.e. look cool, wheel travel, bigger tires etc. You need to be more specific, they both have their purposes it just matters what you are trying to accomplish

If you can't afford to spend $1,200-$1,500 for a quality suspension lift, go with the body lift.

Don't mean to be a thread jacker, but I thought I'd ask a quick question on the subject...any reason why people would say that lifting your truck puts a strain on your engine and/or suspension components?

The body lift simply lifts the body from the frame 3". It's simple, cheap, and doesn't affect the factory ride of the truck. Gives you more clearance for bigger tires.

A suspension lift lifts the suspension away from the frame. For a quality one that compensates for the lift, and still maintains the factory ride and suspension geometry, you can easily spend over $2,000 when it's all said and done.

A cheap suspension lift doesn't correct the angles of the components, and the factory suspension will be out of it's intended operating limits. You end up with a stiff ride, bad steering, and constantly wearing parts.

Big tires=more weight. More weight=more stress on parts.
