Question LED/HID to replace OEM on 2000 F150

I'm looking for ideas to replace my OEM headlight on my 2000 Ford F150 with stock head light bulb and housing. Is LED or HID better choice? What bulb will be able to just switch from OEM to aftermarket? I have a 2000 Ford F150 XLT extended cab that is stock.

LED’s in OEM housings designed for halogen bulbs blind everyone coming towards you. Optics are key. Don’t be one of “them”. I’m needing better illumination as well. My ‘18 Transit Connect projects light extremely well with clear lens halogen bulb headlights. I’m considering replacing my housings with clear ones and SilverStar or comparable halogen bulbs. The consensus on some groups I’m in is that is the safest and offers huge improvements.

You have two options for better lighting, either get some clear lens housings and use some better halogen bulbs, or do a HID retrofit kit (installing projectors inside of the halogen housing).

Plug and play HID and LED kits do nothing but give you less useable light and blind oncoming drivers.

And before someone comes in and says "I installed xxx bulbs and they are much better than halogen and I never get flashed", you are wrong.
Your eyes are the worst instrument to determine useable light output.
Actual lab testing equipment has shown time in and time out that PnP bulbs in an open halogen housing do not work as well as halogen bulbs.

Good article with HID/LED PnP info

Thanks for the input guys, y'all are correct, I do not want to be the driver blinding everyone. Just want better vision for me without impacting others. Going to look at purchasing a set of clear lens and see how that works with bulbs I have or order a set of SilverStars halogen bulbs. Any direction on the set of clear lens housing to purchase?

The headlight Depot is what I put in mine and much better light than stock. You can use either the lighting as in your link or the Harley style

I'm glad you decided to take the right path on this. NAPA has some good "Night Vision" bulbs (I forget the actual name) that have been said to be good. I have Phillips X-Treme bulbs in mine, and am happy as well.

I ordered a set of Harley-style assemblies on eBay for $90. My 2002 has very cloudy lenses. I actually haven't driven it at night yet (had it a week!), but I just presume that the light output currently sucks. Decided not to go with LED bulbs for now, too. I think these should look good in my True Blue truck.

They have sold a lot...hope they aren't crap. https://www.ebay.com/itm/131166244028
