Default Leak from back of water pump stem

I need to replace the stem from the back of the water pump going to the heater hose tube under the intake manifold. How do I get to it and how do I replace it?is it pressed in? It came loose when I replaced the heater hose and now it won’t tighten back up

How could that possibly come loose by replacing a hose.......
The heater tube is bolted to the back of the passenger head so it can't move.

Unless of course somebody was trying to say saw through their heater tube to put a hose bypass on it.... And the motion worked that stub loose..... And it backed out

To get to it you really need to remove the intake manifold.

My recollection is that stub is pressed in place..... But I have never messed with it.... I just replaced my heater tube and o-rings. I think it's hammered in place from the water pump side. There was a post one time of somebody that had to replace theirs a couple of years ago.

If I recall correctly they were looking for ways to not pull their intake manifold.... Suggestions like... Tapping it from the water pump side and using a slide hammer. To pull it, .....etc. that's about all i remember. I do remember looking up the part and being kind of surprised it was a friction fit.

Of course, I could be totally mistaken. The part is removable I know that for sure.

If yours is loose you might just only have to remove your water pump and tap it back into place. Or, yours might have come loose for a reason like corroded split etc. Probably best to have another one on hand before you pull the water pump.

Here's a shot of the piece from another website post. Apparently it's aluminum. There should be a ridge on the water pump side that keeps it from going thru

Right, as mbb mentioned, should be ridged, it's bolted to the back of the pass side head. Just one bolt if I remember right...can't see the bolt, you have to feel for it once the manifold is removed.

The pipe shouldn't move at all. Unless you lost that bolt somehow.

I hit it by accident and it loosened up and now I guess I gotta go hammer it in from the pump side
