Default A knock

2001 5.4 L v2 Triton.
I have just finished a complete overhaul of this engine. This included new rings, timing chains, chain tensioners, and chain guides. Crankshaft bearings, and complete head overhaul, and pressure test, after cleaning. New oil pump, and water pump. All timing was per manual instructions. Driver side timing sprocket set at 12 o'clock, opposite timing sprocket set at 11 o'clock and locked @ position. Crankshaft set with TDC Special tool. Chains were set with timing mark on camshaft between two link marked. That's all I can pull out of my memory. That being said, I have a small knock at idle and I think it's the knock sensor and it's external on motor. There are two on the front of the block, each under one cam, could these be the knock sensor? If so I assume they feed info to the ECM about idle and or acceleration. WOULD ANYONE HAVE INFORMATION IF THESE TWO ARE THE KNOCK SENSORS, OR WHERE THE KNOCK SENSOR IS AND WHY IT IS KNOCK? I DON'T KNOW IF ANY CODES HAVE BEEN THROWN FOR I DON'T OWN A TROUBLE SHOOTING TOOL. ANY GUIDENCE OR INFORMATION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Knock sensors don't have moving parts, so can't make a noise. They only sense noise. They are electrical devices.

Do you have a video of this thing running? This thread says it's a knock, and your other thread says it's a tick. Am I understanding correctly, you don't have a code reader?

White head 89. I screwed up the title. I A knock. It is a tick on passenger side middle or engine by intake manifold. The rebuild included new injectors and plug coils. I'm going to fill truck with non ethanol gas and see if that will remedy tick. It doesn't tick at startup high idle. Tick begins at regular idle. Does not grow louder during acceleration or upping RPM while in park. I do not have a trouble shooting tool. The rebuild restored power and all operational noises. I listened to a YouTube sent in of the knock he was asking about. My tick is no where near his in volume or sound. I appreciate your response very much!

The injectors will give off a slight tick. Just thought you should check in to that.

White head 89. I thought that might be that, but it's one rather quite single tick. If it is a injectors wouldn't they create multiple ticks, or could it be just one injector? Could you find the one creating the tick with the engine running

Make sure the plugs are tight. Could also be an exhaust manifold leak.

The knock is worse when in park, and lessens when put it in gear.
