Keyless entry keypad issue
hey my wifes escape is finiky... make sure the lights come on when you hit the first button... I have to hit hers a few times before the interior light comes on then it unlock.
no matter if the last owner changed it or not, that is the default and will still work. I didn't know the code to my 99 expedition and untill I found where the code was I always used the remote... found the code punched it in and walla.

I'm having the same problem. I found the code under the dash and plugged it in....nothing. When I press the last 2 #'s the doors lock so I expect its not the locking mec.
If any one figures this out please let me know.
Thanks

Ford does make a stick on keypad. It gets programmed with the key fobs. 8 key cycles, program the fob's then punch in the code that came with the keypad. All done. Stick it anywhere. Most of the problems with the factory key fobs is that water gets in. I have seen tons of them bad. Need a scan tool to find if the buttons being pushed are the numbers being read by the module. I usually see one or two of the buttons won't send the right number and then not work. Like pushing the 7 button but the module sees 1. The module only sees the odd numbers 1,3,5,7,9 only. 7,9 lock all doors. 4 after punching in the right code will unlock all the doors. There is no way to delete the factory code. Its permanent! You can add up to two personal codes, it's in the owners manual how to do it.
