Default Just realized..

So about a 2 months ago I bought a spectre air intake system, and I'm looking at it today and realized its alot closer to the motor, it's an open air filter no cover or heat shield, to me it seems like its pulling in hotter air then the stock intake, is that true and if so is there an easy way to make a "shield" of some sort or anything??

It's got a small shield, it's not gonna be a huge problem. Lots of high performance lightning's have open filters on them and they run harder than yours, not to mention all the lol not rodders had open element filters on top of the carb and they ran fine. It's not gonna kill it to get a little warm air.

I built a shield out of a commercial grade Hefty rectangular trash can, cut longways to give me the amount of material necessary to make the corner bend. I used a jig saw and cut around the areas to make it close. Then I took and made the final cuts for a much better, more professional fit. I took the once corner and used a heat gun to make pliable. I then bent it 90*, to complete the look and have a lower mounting tab. I used RV weatherstrip foam to make the upper seal to the hood. It looks fairly decent completed. I'll post up some pics of the cut out when I get the truck back from my son. He needed to move some furniture, and his Subaru wasn't going to do the trick.
