Post *just got transy fixed, what else do i replace?*

ok so after 5 months of my truck sitting in
the driveway, i FINALLY got it fixed.
What else do you guys recommend that
i should replace?

I was thinking spark plugs since i haven't
done that in forever.
Spark plug wires, oil filter, air filter..?
(Also, please tell me which brands i should buy please)

PLEASE HELP ASAP! I'M 18 BUT LOVE WORKING ON MY TRUCK AND MY PARENTS ARE MAKING ME FIX EVERYTHING BUT THE TRANSY.

oh and also, what is the best motor oil i should use, Penzoil, Royal Purple?
If you guys can also give me some advice as to what i should do for a better gas mileage i would greatly appreciate that.
Basically i'm asking for any advice that would make my truck perform/run better.

Thank you,
Baltazar Gutierrez

Hey Dude, I know how you feel man I'm just 20 myself and pay for all my truck expenses myself. First:
How long ago did you change your spark plugs/Wires?

Change the oil and filter for sure!!

When did you last change the filter? It might still be good check it, if its dirty then change it.

Now if you have always used full synthetic on your truck then run Mobil 1 fully synthetic . Royal purple is overkill haha unless you have a bad *** truck. If you have always run regular oil just run any brand. I love my truck and Still use Wally Worlds Super Tech High Mileage 10w 40 in the winter and 10w 30 in the summer. With fram high mileage filter. Always does the trick for me and change it every 3 months or 3,000 miles.

yeah dude, it's lame but I learn a lot.

hmm, well my dad gave me the truck January of '08 (he had it before me) and i know for a fact that I haven't changed them and I don't ever recall my dad changing them so all I know is that it has been ATLEAST 2 and a half years.

As for the filter, I checked it today while degreasing my engine and it was still white, barely any dirt spots. I want to get a K&N intake but I've been told that it causes it to run lean, being a 4.2L v6...true?

yeah I've always used full synthetic. Is Pennzoil good? or is Mobil 1 better because there's a sale going on to buy 5 quarts of Pennzoil conventional motor oil and a Purolator Pure One Oil Filter and Gumout fuel injector cleaner for $15.99

haha yeah the Royal Purple did seem like the real deal haha.
Ok thanks man I'll make sure i do that for next summer.
Wally World? I've heard of them but
I have never seen one. Where do you live?

I have heard that once you use syn mobil oil you arent suppose to go back to conventional. So i wouldnt get the penzoil unless they got a full syn.

haha dude, wally world = Wall Mart hahaha. That what some people call it as a nick name. Well if you have always used Full Synthetic then stick with that and DO NOT USE REGULAR OIL!!!! Wall Mart brand of oil offers a fully synthetic one that is good but should be changed every 3,000 miles still. I would recommend Mobil 1 though. I live in Glendora, Califorina. Any who your air filter should be fine. I would change them spark plugs for sure. As for the k & n you can put it in. It will actually make your truck just breathe easier maybe help the MPG some but I never heard of it actually hurting your MPG.

What year is the truck? My 02 4.2L recommends plugs to be replace at 100K. I'm at 192K and has original wires. If it works leave it alone. Use your money to repair things that are broke. Check your brakes by a good 4 wheel visual inspection and rotate tires if needed.
