Default Just another build thread (new guy)

Hey everybody. First I want to say thanks for all the help that you guys on this forum have unknowingly given me. I've been to this forum numerous times over the years via Google search for different problems and you have not failed to come through every time. I recently downloaded the iPhone app when I decided to start putting some money into my truck and now I'm starting this build thread because I know I'm going to have questions in the future. Lol.

I'm at work right now so I don't have any pictures yet, but I have a '00 f150 scab 4.6l that I've had for about 4 years. We have had our ups and downs and almost been divorced a time or 2 but I love her so I'm keeping her as long as she'll keep me. Lol.

The oil pump went bad a few years ago and I messed up with the timing while installing it and ruined the engine (I'm no mechanic but I try) so i had a friend help me replace that (with your help, of course). She now has about 250k on the body and about 200k on the engine. The only other things I've done is the zip tie mod and I followed the instructions for repairing the compass/thermometer and was successful. 😃

I just replaced COPs and plugs 2 days ago and I have parts on order for my front suspension. (Upper control arms, lower ball joints, outer tie rod ends, and sway bar end links.)

This build thread will be a slow going process, but I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I will. We can share in the pain along the way. lol.

I will post pics today, but I have to go to my local stealership first when I get off work and deal with a problem from a repair on my wife's vehicle. Good times. Anyway. Thanks again for all the valuable info you guys make available to noobs like me. 😎

So after getting home from work and dealing with the local Ford dealership service manager this morning I was able to get home and clean my MAF. I have a slight hesitation under acceleration and I'm hoping that this helps. Now I'm gonna go to bed since it's now 10:00 PM for me because I'm working night shift at the moment. Hopefully I can add more pics and interesting stuff soon.

Oh and FYI... Be careful what you let your Ford dealer work on. You may end up with an antifreeze jug riveted to your firewall. Not kidding. This actually happened to me last week.

Yes sir!! My wife drives a '05 Freestar minivan. Apparently those models had a bad foam seal under the cowl that would lift and rain water would drip directly onto the PCM. I tried fixing it myself and it lasted about 2 months and happened again. I got fed up and thought that maybe the dealer would know a better trick. The guy told me he had to order some parts because "ford has a fix for it and all we have to do is install a few pieces and redirect the water". I gave him the go ahead and this is what I get back. Adhesive under the cowl, and a sealed and riveted antifreeze jug over the top.

$595.10... For trash.

Oh and they cleaned the vans MAF sensor and replaced the Runner bushings. Lol. What a joke. And when I brought it back they acted like I should be happy with the technicians extra effort.

Not unless they are irritated by paying customers. I know I irritated them this morning though. It's not over yet. Not sure what I can do but I'm not done.

Ha. You're telling me. Sad part is, the antifreeze that was in it must've went in someone else's vehicle because the van didn't need any. Lol. Go figure. So yeah. Expensive bottle.

Good morning!!
I got my "big box of goodies" in from Amazon last night while I was at work. Just busted it open.

Awesomeness.

Now when this turnaround I'm working is over I can install all of this stuff.

I also got my OBD2 scanner for smartphone in as well. I thought I ordered the wifi version but I accidentally ordered the Bluetooth version which is not compatible with iOS. I guess I have to send it back. Oh well. You have to take the good with the bad, I guess.
