Interior Light Problem
I need help with regards to the interior light that doesn't seem to work on my 99 Ford F150 S/C 4.2 V6. I assumed that when opening the doors on the truck the interior light should come on but it doesn't. I checked the fuse #14(15A) on the fuse box inside the cab it is ok and I also replaced the dome bulb (middle bulb - 3 inside) and still doesn't work. Turning the panel dimmer switch(next to headlight switch) all the way up, it lights up. What seems to be the problem? Please help. Thanks.

these trucks have the door ajar switches in the latch itself. I've never had this issue or dealt with these before so I couldn't tell you, but if rolling the dimmer switch all the way up turns the light on, then you can rule out the fuse and relay.
Spray the crap out of the door latch with your lubricant of choice. The switch is in the latch and they gum up, common problem. You may be surprised as to how much it'll take, just spray the hell out of, open and close the door a few times and spray some more untill it works.

I'm not mechanically incline to say the least. I'm on my 2nd battery because of this problem. If I would have come here first I could have saved myself 70 bucks and a lot of heartache. I picked up a bottle of wd40 and sprayed the crap out of the latched and it worked perfectly. It's so nice to get in the truck turn the key and the interior light goes off.
....now I just have to figure out how to replace all the fuses I took out when I was trying to find the "short".
You will see me around here a lot.....glad to be here.
