Well someone other than yourself would be a step in the right direction. Hell, most of people on this site could of helped you out. You wouldn't of needed the dealer if you pulled your own inspection of the vehicle and asked questions accordingly. First thing you do when purchasing a new to you vehicle is go through it. Specially one this old. People here are good, so no need to single me out.

Good Luck in the future

At least you got it so you are happy with it now and your fuel mileage increased also. Good deal. Enjoy your truck.

Now for something to do with the odd resistor you found on your floor. Put into a friends vehicle and leave it for them to find. Let them go crazy trying to figure out where it came from. That could of been how you got it in the first place. lol Pay it forward.

FYI if anyone is wondering, you can't drive without the cluster... Tried it in my 03 when I pulled the dash to paint. A few days I went to work with it perched on the skeleton of the dash and plugged in.
