Instrument Cluster ?
Hey guys, are the instrument clusters the same in F150's as Expeditions? I just got oner and someone put some awesome flame overlay gauges on it and 2 of the needles are jacked up. Needing a new one and my local u pull it has a bunch of Expeditions but not many f150's.
If have to take the new/used cluster to ford so the mileage can be transferred over. The mileage is stored in the cluster not the computer, if you have a digital odometer. The cluster is also tied in to the PATS (passive anti theft system). So Ford is gonna have to mess with that too. Good luck.

A shop will have to program the HEC which stores the security information. In the ten years I worked at ford the mileage never transfered to the other cluster. I know there is a setting on the NGS tester I have but it asks for an access code. You will also need at least 2 keys for programming. I think the junk yards should give a programmed key with the cluster because once they sell the cluster all they need is a normal key. It won't start anymore anyhow. Then all the new owner of the cluster would have to do is; install the cluster and switch the chip from key to key. You'd be up and running like that. No dealer and no shops needed to start the truck. I cut the white face gauge I put in my truck so the needles don't do that. Some also cut the peg off the needle, same result. I put the factory up to the white face and cut it exactly the same where the needles are. All needles sit at factory locations.
