Injector Question
Hello everyone,
I have searched for hours trying to find a definite answer but I can't find one, so hopefully someone here can help.
I have a '97 F-150 with 240K miles and the 4.6L engine, I was initially informed when I bought it that it needed a tune up. But after replacing the coils, plugs, wires, and O2 sensors (and doing a few redneck exhaust mods) the engine was running with a definite miss and the check engine light flashing. I ran out of time to mess with it and took it to a shop, they said that it has a hard miss on 3 cylinders and they're thinking injectors.
The guy said that the cheapest injectors he could find were $116 a piece, I know that is wrong. So I started scouring the internet for the correct kind of injectors for this truck... and I have seriously mixed results... can anyone tell me what kind/lb.hr./connector/Ohm injectors I am looking for?
Will these work??

I used E3 plugs, MSD coils, and ford racing wires. And the mechanic isn't suspecting #3 misfire, three different cylinders are misfiring. Back to the question at hand, can anyone tell me the specifics as they relate to these injectors?
I don't know what to believe, I have never seen 3 injectors go bad, but then again the fuel filter was completely full of sediment and junk when I changed it and the truck has a ton of miles, so I am just looking at my options from this mechanic. I'm not even in the same state as the truck anymore so I am putting my faith in this shop, I used to work there when I was young and they have always been knowledgeable guys. No, I will not be replacing brand new quality products from E3 or MSD with Motorcraft, that makes no sense to me.

The e3 plugs and the coils are my guess at your problem. These trucks tend to only like motorcraft. E3 plugs definitely aren't quality in my experience. I wouldn't even put them in my lawn equipment. As far as the msd coils go, we had lots of problems using them on our old Honda Odyssey. Obviously it's a different engine but I think that says enough about the quality for me not to use them again. Just humor us and put the motorcraft parts in and see if it makes any difference. I bet you'll be surprised.

Since you're the second senior member to suggest this, I have to ask. Why would a different brand of coil or plug cause a misfire? It is all brand new equipment that is built to OEM spec or better. And I should probably add some more backstory here.
The truck had a check engine before I did all of the tuneup work. However, I did not get to drive it and experience how it was before the tuneup was done, therefore I can't confirm or deny if it had a miss before. There was also an intake air temperature sensor code when the mechanic scanned it, I don't know if that has anything to do with this or not.

As far as your other question goes, there's several factors that can effect it. Personally I haven't ever used anything other than motorcraft and one other brand coil on the truck and the replacement coil didn't last long before misfiring again. Others with more experience will probably chime in. @jbrew, give him the rundown for me? Lol.
