Hey, i recently had an accident and lost a treasured 99 f150 4x4 4.6l truck. The motor is good with just slightly above 200k miles on it, and the transmission has maybe 1500 miles on it. Frame is bent, and cab is no good. I was hoping someone could help me either someone looking to buy, or someone who can help me find a frame and body. 4x4 frame and any body. They can be separate purchases. If possible, i need it a little close to Mississippi. Thanks!!!!!!

 

Your best bet is to find a truck from down south with a blown drive train. I don't even think Car-parts.com sells frames or titled rollers.

Pick the furthest distance you're willing to drive and start checking Metro Craigslist. ..or what would probably be better is pick a warm climate state and check closest to furthest you'd be willing to drive.

If you're already in the south, then that's half your battle.

I know here in New Mexico, rust is basically never an issue since we don't salt the roads in the rare instances when we get snow. I've personally seen a few 10th gen F-150's on various Facebook groups in the past couple weeks with either a blown engine, bad trans, or no engine. Arizona is the same way in regards to rust, but that's even further than NM.

 

Are you thinking of swapping your motor/trans into a "new" roller? With 200K miles on the 4.6, I don't see the point. I'd suggest simply shopping for a new truck altogether, or one with a only a bad transmission as mentioned, but there's no way I'd drop a 200K-mile motor into anything without a rebuild first.

Shoot I'd put my 340,000 mile engine and original trans in another truck if I totaled mine. There's nothing wrong with them, they still even look good lol. It doesn't take long.

200,000 isn't nothing for me, - just broke in, if it was taken care of.

 

Key point is this, but I suppose you're right. If I'd had it since new (or close to it) and knew the history, I'd probably roll the dice.

The engine is a freak, - still can't get it to use oil between changes. Probably from all those Motorvac Services at the dealer and the use of a product called AutoRX. Combined, these engines stay very clean inside.

For one of these engines not to use ANY oil with that mileage...yea, it's a freak lol.
