Default increasing line pressure

My buddy has a 97 4.6L with a chip which he says increases the line pressure in the transmission which gives him a nice crisp shift between 1st and 2nd. As we all know, Ford did something goofy with the shift between 1st and 2nd so that it was really smooth in turn making it shift very sluggish. My bud told me that my truck, being an 02 can be reprogrammed at a dealer to shift crisper. has anyone done this? can anyone tell me more about this? all input is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about having to go to a dealer. But an edge evo. Will allow you to adjust the trans. Making it smoother or morr firm. that's what I use.

4mpg from a edge i claim bull. The most i have ever seen from a edge evo was 2.4mpg on a completely stock truck with a owner who was elderly that never went any where fast and engine never saw over 2000 rpms. The edge can firm up the shifts but doent push them to far or they will start to have excessive wear on the forward bands.
