Default I have a problem...

My 2000 F150 has around 187,000 miles and im haveing a problem with the drive gear. Whenever i come to a stop it roughly idles then it dies. It doesnt happen very often. When i put it in reverse then back up it usually fixes it. I have no clue what the problem is and the dealership cant find anything without haveing to tear the engine apart. If anyone can help me by telling me what the problem is that would be very, very helpful. Thanks.

Pretty much impossible to diagnose something like that over the internet but maybe look into the tcc solenoid? Or maybe Idle air control valve, wouldn't make sense with being fixed by going into reverse but can cause the symptoms. Good luck

I'm assuming that it's an automatic 4r70. A customer of mine had the same problem, ended up being the tcc solenoid intermittently shorting and causing the torque converter to lock up when coming to a stop.

This could be the problem, but like stated earlier, impossible to diagnose over the Internet

Okay so weve figured out the problem... Some of the tranny seals were bad so they were leaking oil. ive replaced them and its all good. But the tcc solenoid was cheap and probably needed to be replaced anyways. So if any of yall are having this problem try the seals on the tranny first.

Was this an external leak causing a low fluid level or did you open the tranny to replace internal seals? Just curious.
