How to remove rear window Framing..!
I have a 2001 F-150 Lariat Super Duty, with rear sliding glass window. This window has leaked for a couple of years now, and I just figured out what it is. The rubber seal has come loose. (only leaks in REAL HARD RAIN). How do I remove the black plastic trim from the rear window? Looks like it is bolted from the inside...! Anyone have any ideas...? Thanks.
I just did this project on my 2001 Lariat, Followed the video posted above step by step and it worked like a charm, its been snowing like crazy the last 2 months and I don't have a single drop of water now! I just used clear RTV sealant from Auto Zone.
KD4gij- How long did the RTV sealant that you used the first time last until you did your repair and used the 3M window weld? I just want to know a timeframe for when I'll have to do this project again.

Just did the 3M 3/8 x 15 tape today. The job was fairly easy except removing tape, caulk and silicone added by the previous owner in addition to the original sealant. Not much fun but a combo of scraping and solvents along with tons of rags worked. The roll of 3M product seems like a better option rather then try the tube of caulk that exploded like in the one guys video. I cant imagine the bead would be even when spread on with a putty knife. When I used the roll it was very even and made ZERO MESS. Not replacing the rubber strip seems like it could lead to problems also. I just tossed mine also but I am thinking that a real thick silicone bead might be used there.

I've got to do something with my truck. As most of you in the upper Midwest just experienced, we have had some major downpours. I've owned my truck for about 2 months now, and this is the first rain storm it has seen. I went to work yesterday with the truck, and the road plans on the project I'm working on were in the back seat. I grab the set of plans, and they are saturated. WTH. My rear window has a severe leak. Today, more of the same, with heavy downpours. More rear seat saturation. I'll have to follow these you tube videos and get this leak under control.
To top it off, I noticed a "sloshing" sound in my drivers side door. Turns out, there was a fair amount of water sitting in the bottom of the door. Fixed it with a drill bit. Water came out, I was happy. Why, not sure. First vehicle that I've ever owned that you can get wet inside of it.
