Default How to remove this panel

I've a 2001 XL and I need to get to the airbag module.

It's not in the panel to the right of the passenger footwell so is apparently up behind this trim...

How do I remove it.....do I have to take out loads of the dash to get it out or is there an easier way?

Thanks

I’m pretty sure you just pull the panel off. I don’t recall screws holding it in.

It has been a while since I’ve toyed with the SRS module, but definitely doesn’t call for tear a whole lot out.

2 push pins on the drivers side one on the passenger. Just pull on it.

.... Disregard - I read the year as 97, not 2001 ...

Just researched an old thread, and @ProjectSHO89 states here the location change was in 2002.

Well it was just three clip thingymabobs as you said so panel was easy to remove....

However....I thought I had read that the airbag module was blue....and I'm not seeing anything that colour behind the panel.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You're sure it's not up here in the passenger kick panel? They only put it in two places. It's about 3 inches above the inertia switch.... maybe 4.

Can't see it there unless I'm missing something obvious.....that was the first place I looked.

This could be it here... now that I looked at this pic a little harder. Typically, the metal modules that I've messed with have two connectors and that box looks like it only has one. If you can remove or move that vent up a little, you should be able to see a white sticker on top.... might have an arrow or a pretty large letter on top.

I would strongly suggest you completely unhook and discharge your system if you plan on removing the module. Are you replacing it, or what are you needing to do?
