South dakota has snow and we have trucks that hit 300,000 mile quite often

It's not the snow. It's the salt they put on the roads. Being near the coast doesn't help either.

not every place in canada uses salt. in alberta for example they don't use salt and are inland and I hear the place is full of antique trucks, many daily drivers. but I'm from newfoundland. salt. coast. not many antiques that aren't restored and only driven in summer. there are a few though. really looked after, or just really good trucks that refused to give I suppose. that said, there was 1 a guy I kinda know had. where I'm from, same climate/salt. coincidentally to this thread it was a tenth generation f-series, that had over 500,000 kilometres on it. that was when he got rid of it, it still worked.

doing up a 1999 with my father that we got last year. 161,xxx kilometres. (think thats around 100,000 miles or something like that. doing her up, fixing what needs to be, customizing her, never gonna sell her. great father/son project, great truck.
but thats low and at the slow rate we put them on her she should have a while yet. not that she won't be restored when the time comes.
again thats low. a guy I kinda know had one, over 500,000 kilometres (about 300,000 miles?) and got rid of it, it still worked great apparently.
BTW I live in a climate that's rather hard on trucks.
trust me, your truck should be good for a while yet...
