Default How the hell do you remove the spare tire?

I have tried the key and I've tried without to no avail. The winder rod does not engage.

You should be able to just turn it. Maybe it's rusted shut. Spray it with some PB blaster that may loosen it up.

If the rod is in the unit, you need a bfh and some lube on the mechanism. Start jigglin' and crankin, she will come down.

I found a flashlight and knee pads are very helpful. Not what U want out in the mud and snow though. But again who needs it/them, then anyway.

Pretty silly system. Tire is out and the truck goes in for treatment this Friday

I had a similar problem with mine I couldn't get the retainer off so I used a bolt cutter on the cable because I never keep a tire under the truck

If U leave out the spare on the 11 ta 12 U get an ungodly noise going down the express lanes. There is a diverter back there that makes an awful fit.
