Default How does your F150 Shift???

Just a quick question, How does ur f150 shift 1-2 mostly? my last f150 (240km) shifted firm 1-2 and so on, like felt the shift, was nice, firm, if hard enough on the gas i could get the old belt squeak even. but my new f150 (140km) shifts 1-2 quite soft, like sloppy shifts. not very firm. wondering if this is like they all are or was my old f150 how it should? what is other peoples shift like? Also i have a super-chips tuner so i might try up the shift pressures, but what is too much for shift pressure boost? any help appreciated, thanks

well technically a harder/firmer shift is better for the trans...but if you have it too high when your easy on the throttle it will slam into gear and not be smooth (its smoother at higher rpms). I have a built trans with a 3k stall and with my edge i turned it up a lil and it shifts pretty hard but not too much down low, up high its smooth as glass and will put you in the seat since the torque starts to drop off at a high rpm, then shifts/ drops rpms and hauls!

Ya i know the firmer is better. my chev has a biult trans in it and it will chirp 35s on the 1-2. but i dont want that.would like to firm it up for sure. i might try +8 or +10psi on my programmer.

My truck shifts fine with the Superchips programmer...no problems there..I heard shift kits help quite a bit as well and are easy to install..

Mine, I have to feather it to make it shift from 1-2 and it slips/bounces from 2-3 and going into overdrive at low rpm

Shift kit is nice if u wanna burn rubber first then dump into second an tach out lol. I hear it makes the tranny last longer ( less clutch to easy the shift) and is better to tow. I jus like it cuz I can shift into 2nd n the wet and burn tread till it hits 3rd gear

I have a shift kit so it nymphs into second pretty quick and solid. It's not bad but it's more comfortably to drive in my friends exact same truck but white with out a shift kit ( which basically is a stiffer spring n between 1st and 2 nd gear).

Even with 175K on my truck, it still shifts nice and firm when I get on it, but it's pretty smooth (not so smooth that you can't feel it shift) if I'm just feathering the throttle. It's right at my liking for an auto, but I'd still prefer a manual since I'm in the mountains.

More specific to the OP's question, 1st and 2nd feel the firmest, 1st can spin the tires most of the time on dry asphalt. If I'm really on it, I have to let off the gas a bit then get back into it if I want to get into 2nd without getting really high into the RPMs.
