how to do the cup holder light mod!
Today, i am writing a guide on how to change the light for your cup holder from that burnt out/crummy one.
Step 1> Take the cup holder out. Pull out the cup holder as far as you can go. Stick your finger under it the bottom and you will feel two clips, one on the left side, the other on the right. After that it is as easy as pulling the whole assembly out.
Step 2) Twist out the light, you will need to grab needle nose pliers, or anything like that. Twist the light housing to the left to make it into a - instead of a \.
Step 3) Cut off the harness, keeping as much wire as you can. And strip the wires about 1/4"
Step 4) Crimp a female connector to the wires and that is all that you have to do to the wires of the inside.
Step 5) Now open up your lights that you bought. The ones that i have bought were about $2 and i got them at radio shack, any color that you want. make sure they are 12v, one of my friends used ones that had male connectors on the end, mine were just wire. anything like http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg should work!
Step 6) See how big of a hole that you have to cut, if you are doing two lights (one for each cup holder) then you will have to cut out two holes, one on each side.
Cut out where the blue dots are!
Step 7) Fit the lights in and make sure everything fits right.
Step 8) Take one light, and find out which side works with the one in the dash, mark each one a different color, so you know which ones will work together. (If you have one light, all you have to do is crimp a male to both ends and hook them up.)
Step 9) If using two, match the two wires that work with the single wire in the dash and twist the two wires and then crimp them to a male connector.
Step 10) Connect the male and female connectors together and turn your lights on again to double check that your cup holders lights are working.
Step 11) Push the cup holder back in, doing the same thing you did when you took it out.
Congrat's! you did a awesome cheap project!

ah, we don't have one of those around us at all, the wrapper from the lights say 12 VDC lamp assembly...found em http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062367 for $2 it doesn't look that bad, it lights up the cup holder, just doesn't do that ambient lighting effect im looking for.
