Have you noticed any smoke on start up? If so, you may have a leaking injector.

What year and motor do you have? I will check for a tsb.
My 98 I had did it occasional and I was told that it might need a reflash but I never looked into it.

Dont worry about it dude..There was a thread about this not long ago...Majority of the guys said there trucks did it too...My truck didnt start doing it until 20,000 miles, then did it every single start up. I noticed my 08 with 7,000 just started to do it as well...I think its just the truck warming its self up so that you can drive right away.

It might be ok in Texas but in canada its been an average of -50C lately so cold your lungs would freeze, so reving that high off the hop worries me because when it this cold its not hard to pop a motor

I know what you mean, I live in Wyoming. Buy a block heater and plug it in at night. That would help, I would think...

Had another thought about the high rev problem, take the throttlebody elbow off and clean it to make sure their is no carbon/dirt build up on the inside.
Didn't find any TSBs.
