I have a 2001 f150 with the 5.4 it starts up and idles fine when you drive the first 500 to 1000 feet it misfires really bad you can shut it off and start it back and it does good for another 500 to 1000 feet then does it again I have hooked a scanner up to it and it was reading misfire in number 1 cylinder changed plugs and coil packs also threw code for MAF sensor so replaced it as well it has me confused and im running out of options

Sometimes the computer has to complete some drive cycles after repairs to adjust to the new parts. Mine was similar after a misfire. I replaced plugs and wires and it still ran rough for a day or so. The it just started running smooth after some driving. Look into drive cycles for more info.

Without codes it will be difficult to identify the source of the problem.
Could be anything from a fuel problem to an electrical problem.

You may need to take it to a dealer and have them do a diagnostic.

Do follow up. The computer doesn’t have to adjust to plugs or coils.
