Default help with what programmer

so i would like to buy a programmer in the near future for my 98 4.6l 4x4 screw and was wondering what you guys would recommend for one as i would like one for a little more performance and also see a few more mpg with the change of the modes. thanks in advacne.

I have a edge cs I love it I've been getting 16 city and almost 21 highway

I've been reading up on them for my 97 supercab 4.6 and I always come v
Back to the edge evolution cs. I talked to some guys on here about it, one put up a picture of his dash display. Said 18 mpg at 70 mph on 35's.

I would want to verify those numbers vs a simple hand calculation on number miles driven / number of gallons. Not saying he is wrong, but all MPG calculations, either OEM or aftermarket, are usually 2 to 3 mpg off.

thanks for the info guys, expecially otto great post! personally i was already looking into the edge cs or cts but did not know if there was any other ones that would deliver the same bang.
