Default help needed with subwoofer install.

I just bought an amplified subwoofer. I did all the power connections. My radio has no subwoofer output. On the subwoofer there is left and right, + and - inputs. I am going to tap the rear speakers. Question......Do I have to tap into both left and right rear speakers? Or do I tap into just one side? Subwoofer has two speaker inputs. Do I need to use both left and right inputs on the subwoofer? Or just one side input?

thanks

You need to buy a high low converter if just recall. Does the sub have RCA inputs?

Yes, you would use both inputs. I don't know if you've ever noticed, but with stereo (as opposed to mono) will have the bass guitar on one side, and bass drum in the other, etc. Anyway, you will be missing bass on some songs if you only tap into one side.

I always wondered about the speaker level inputs. It was always recommended to me to use an aftermarket head unit for the RCAs and adjustability.

It is not the preferred method, for sure. The rear speakers can actually act as a microphone and give feedback that is ear piercing. Hopefully his sub has something to prevent that from happening. I know I've personally heard one of the BOSS powered subs do it.
