HELP... Engine Won't Crank
I decided to take a look into trying to fix the little black wheel under the dash that adjusts the shifter pointer and realized while I was turning the black wheel that the plastic clip is broke on my 2001 F150 Super Crew 4x4. So when I went to start the truck up to see if anything changed it didn't want to crank. Lights, radio and all other accessories come on but nothing happens when I turn to crank the engine on. At first some of the instrument lights would come on. Went back under there to see if I could see anything that looked wrong but no luck. Now when I turn the key to the on position the only instrument light that comes on is the "ABS" on the bottom near the trip reset button. And when I turn the key to crank the engine the light goes off. Anyone have any idea what may have happened??? Battery is reading 12.5 volts.
Tried connecting a scanner to see if any codes were available but it keeps saying that it can't link up. Wondering if something happened while I was adjusting the little black wheel under the dash or if it was just something else. Battery connections are clean.
Try shifting into neutral and trying to start. Mine had a similar problem where it wouldn't register going into park and wouldn't let my truck crank, thinking it was still in gear (reverse). Does it not crank at all, or does it just not fire while its cranking?

Even with pats, it should light up the gauges. I would remove the Pos bat terminal and go over your wiring and connections on the steering column and maybe even pull the gauge pod and inspect the connections.
I say disconnect the battery in case you have an open wire. May save you a fire.
