Default Headlight restoration

I have been informed that a retrofit pod won't be practical or smart. I am now looking to put a replacement HID bulb in my stock headlights of that is possible. I need to restore the plastic on the headlights it has turned colors and is glazed over. What is the best way to do that

Honestly.... I would just buy new headlights. I think you'll be happier with the outcome. I "restored" mine 2 years ago, and they already look **** yellow again.

Not that it's practical and not smart, but It can not be done in these housings. Read up on user BrowningScrew's retrofit thread.

Check out the restoration kit from Turtle Wax. Just used it on my daughter's Jetta. Looks brand new.

The problem with these and similar products is they go back to the way they were in a few months. I know, because I have used them.

There is a guy on youtube that shows you how to do them the right way. You wet sand them and then clear coat them. The clear is what protects them and keeps them from yellowing again.

Guy at auto store told me that was best kit.
Also said it lasts about a month

To do it right, sand the lenses down like would finish sand paint.
Clear coat them with a uv stable urethane catalyzed clearcoat. It will last a few yrs.

But thats $20 for a can, plus sandpaper, plus shipping, plus time and trouble for most. And may still have little haze cracks in plastic

Really only worth it if your housings are $$$, like hundreds

Replacement for our trucks are $37 for both including bulbs.
