Default Headlight removal/installation

I searched but couldn't find what I was looking for. Hope I am not re-asking.

I picked up some Sylvania Silver stars at the local auto zone. I used my haynes manual and it pretty much says to pull the two tabs backwards and up and then just slide the headlight housing out.

The passenger side tabs are real tight to get out, so I didn't swap that one yet. However, I am curious... removal was super simple but installing seems to be a bit tougher with having to line up all 3 beams into corresponding holes. is there any advice on this? I want to make sure my lights are installed correctly so there is no akwards gaps or misaligned lights. Is it easier if I remove the Grill Surround? Any help is appreciated.

the "nipples" on the headlight itself swivel up n down and then you could align it with the holes in the mount clip/brackets but usually when you pull em out you dont have to do much to put em back in

I didn't get to reattempt this today, but will aim for it after work tomorrow. More or less, trying to pry the passenger tab out and up since it is not budging.

A while back, I had trouble changing out a headlight on my '98.

After I unlocked the tabs it didn't want to clear on both sides, and I had to wiggle it around and force it a little to get it out.

And then, when I went to put the headlight back in, it was such a tight fit that I had trouble getting the prongs to line back up.
After I fought it for a while, my son came along and suggested taking the corner light loose for more room. After we did that, it was easy.

Default Headlight install

Love this forum. I was getting ready to take my grill, bumper etc off when I figured I would search here. Under 10 minutes to change out both hazed out headlights!

I agree, Mike.

This forum has helped me out of some scrapes. e.g. transmission, automatic door locks, carboned up throttle body, etc.
