Default headers help

I'm looking to put headers on my 02 f150. I have it dueled out with the supper 44 series flowmaster. I'm looking for more sound and performance out of my truck. (I already had the truck straight piped and I'm not doing that again not much of a difference)I don't have any cats on the truck. I was looking for shorty headers but I was wondering if any one has put headers on a 02 or close in year and if they had any problems with the motor after. Thanks for looking at the post. The truck is 2wd with the 5.4.

I bet if you ad a cat to each side your butt dyno will notice something.

No, you wouldn't have any engine problems with new headers.

okay Thank you. I was worried that I would have problems with it. Will the gaskets keep going out on me or can I get something to fix that?

They shouldn't keep going out, that's not normal. Maybe you're not torquing the header correctly.

Also, long tubes would give you more power than shorties.

I heard they went out. I haven't owned a set and I'm looking for some. Are they real hard to put in?

Hard is extremely relative. Many factors. Time, spare vehicle, rust, broken studs, proper equipment/tools, knowledge of the procedure, mechanical abilities all play a role in how "hard" it is.

That being said, it's not something the average joe-schmoe would attempt. If you consider your self pretty handy I would say go for it - worst case is you have to bring it into a shop to finish.

This gives you a pretty good idea of what you will be going through

I just hope that a stud won't break off on me. I live in SC and the manifold doesn't look to bad. I might look into having someone do it. I just want the shorty headers cause the bolt right up to where the cats used to be. And plus better mpg highway.
